Showing Comments on each Blog Entry

Is there a way to allow comments to remain showing under the particular blog entry? I’ve noticed that if someone makes a comment on the “latest” blog entry, it shows below that blog entry. But once that blog entry becomes old news, the comment doesn’t show on the bottom anymore (in fact, it doesn’t even show that there was a comment made)…..Does this have to do with me having the comments showing on the side bar?

    thanks.

If you go into Settings -> Reading, there’s a box you can tick in order for the comment count to be displayed.

It is much easier on forum volunteers if your user name links to your wordpress.COM blog rather than a site not hosted here. I did find your blog here http://aboutabride.wordpress.com/ Is this the blog you are referring to?

I’m not sure what your question is. There is a link to comments at the end of each of your posts. (Where there are no comments, the link just says “Comments.” If there are comments, the link shows the number of comments.)

Comments *always* stay with the post. (And I don’t see that you have the recent comments widget in your sidebar, but no, it has nothing to do with that.)

Let me guess – you are not hosted here at wordpress.COM, right? As there is no such box in the settings>reading here. Please take a look at the sticky at the top of the forum – https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1

vivianpaige, I am indeed hosted at wordpress.com,

Here are the options in the “reading” settings:

For each article in an enhanced feed, show

    Categories
    Tags
    Comment count
    Add to Stumbleupon
    Add to Del.icio.us
    Add to Digg.com
    Add to Reddit

@ruedeseine, you’re quite right that the comment count can be displayed in an enhanced feed. But I don’t think that’s what the OP is asking for, is it? I think she’s talking about her main blog page.

Sorry – I read comment ORDER, not comment count. But what you are referring to there is the RSS feed, not on the blog, as rosclark said.

I am on wordpress and the particular blog that I am talking about is my when1plus1makesthree.wordpress.com site.

See how on the right side on the sidebar it shows recent comments….however, only under the latest post does it make any reference to comments that have been made. Is there any way to have the comment remain with the post instead of just listed on the sidebar.

    thanks.

Yes, I see the problem you’re describing. All the metadata seems to have disappeared from later posts. This is not normal. Have you done something to the CSS? If not, then I think you need to contact staff to see if it’s a backend problem.

Agree with rosclarke here – contact staff. Something’s hiding the entry meta data.

It is how Phu designed the theme.
The latest post gets top billing and has the Comments link. Older posts do not. It’s always been this way. While I can see an argument for altering it I can also see the many people who would come to the forum (and Support) asking us why we fixed something that was not broken if we did add the links in. Theme changes don’t tend to go down so well…

    Huh. Weird theme.

hymm..ok, so its just part of the theme/look…I might end up changing the theme…someone should tell Phu that maybe this should be an optional thing.

    Thanks for all the help.

    Problem resolved! ;)

I was wondering if that was the way the theme was designed. (Kinda like Chaotic Soul, where it has the first post be larger font type than the others.) I think it’s weird, too.

uh, back to the original question: Under each entry there is only the number of comments, you can click it and then read the comment: but I want the comments to be displayed without clicking, at all times!

There is no way to do that. And think about it – if you had 100 comments on a post, the reader would have to scroll past all of that to get to the next post.
