Showing date and author in posts

Hello, recently someone asked me how I was able to show the author and date at top of my posts. I am using the Levin theme. I had no idea, so said it must be part of the theme. However she claimed she could not find it. So I checked my other theme, Brompton, and it does NOT show the same data. I have surfed but probably using the wrong keywords as all articles deal with author and date but not in the way I want and not for .com sites. In other words, they usedPI’s.
So, is this theme dependent or is their a – relatively – easy way please. Cheers -

Whether or not posts display an author byline and publication date depends on the theme, yes. Some themes display it, some don’t, some offer a setting that lets you decide if you want it to display or not, while some only display it if a site has posts by more than one author.
If your theme does not display an author byline, the only way to add that is to modify your theme’s PHP code through creating a child theme.

Thanks, I’ll quit searching now.
My second theme does, it seem show this, but at the very foot.
I rarely read my posts once published so never noticed.
However seems my friend’s does not.
But no worries, she has changed her theme.
