Showing geotagged location in the post

  Hi,

  i am using the geotagging feature in the wordpress.com post editor section. How do I show the geotagged location in the published post?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there, those geotags are machine readable rather than human readable. There’s a Staff explanation of this feature in this thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/what-is-location-in-more-options-used-for?replies=12#post-3040772

  As I suggested in that thread, if you want to show the location to your site visitors you can add a Google map or a Carto embed to your post.

  There is a bug in geotagging when using the new dashboard – you can follow the ticket here if you like:

  https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/4099

  You could try using the WP Admin dashboard to add your locations, and see if that workaround does the trick. The older method isn’t officially supported anymore, but you might want to give it a try if the feature is important to you.

  That sounds like the issue I’m seeing. I add a location when in the post but it doesn’t show anywhere in the published article.

  As a test, you could try going into an old post in the older WP Admin dashboard, removing and re-selecting the location, and saving:

  https://fussyveg.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

  And you can try adding the location to your next post in the WP Admin editor.

  I think it should be – see the GitHub ticket for screenshots. Unfortunately, I’m currently unable to test it myself, since the WP Admin “add location” button isn’t working for me, which is why I’ll be interested to see what mav3 finds on their end.

  @kathrynwp unable to untag a location in a post, published one without a location and then added it, still won’t show up. Guess will have to wait for the bug to be fixed.
