Showing multiple blog posts

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get my blog to show more than the last two posts. I went under settings and asked it to show the last ten and hit save but it is still only showing two. Can someone please offer some suggestions? Thank you in advance.

    Hi there,

Are you using a Blog Posts Block or Latest Posts block? That has individual settings. To change them, go to the page/post with it in, find the block and click on it, open the settings (the cog/gear symbol in the top right-hand corner) and find Display Settings. Under that you can change the settings to show ten.
The settings in the Writing Settings refer to the blog feed.

I hope this helps! If you’re still unsure or the above steps don’t work, please say so. Sharing the URL of the site you’re working on may also help.

Just a reminder that this forum is for WordPress.com hosted websites. If you use the open-source WordPress software, you’ll need to go to their forum to get help: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

That doesn’t seem to be it either. Here is the page I am working on.

Okay, on that page it looks like it is a Blog Posts/Latest Posts block, but it may be that you have your homepage set to a recent posts page. Could you please tell me whether you have your homepage set to show ‘your latest posts’ or ‘a static page’? If you’re not sure you can find out by going to My Site > Design > Customise > Homepage Settings.

It is currently set to “a static page”

    Hi again @allthingsarestories,

Please try updating your browser, clearing cache and cookies, and disabling any extensions on your browser(s). Sometimes this solves problems like these. If you’re not sure how to do any of that, please ask.

It is currently set to “a static page”

Okay, so for this you should be able to go to the home page and update the settings of that Blog/Latest Posts Block to show 10 posts. I’ve already suggested this but please just double check you’ve followed these steps:

Go to My Site > Site > Pages, and find your Home page.
Open the Home page’s editor by clicking on ‘Home’.
Once in the editor, find the block where your posts are listed. Click on that block.
Open the settings. If ‘Document’ is highlighted, click on ‘Block’.
Once you’re in the Block settings, check it’s the settings for ‘Blog Posts’ (or ‘Latest Posts’).
Find the ‘Display Settings’ within the Block Settings if it is a Blog Posts Block, or ‘Sorting and Filtering’ if it is a Latest Posts Block.
Change the number under ‘Number of items’ from ‘2’ to ’10’. You can either do that with the slider or by typing ’10’.
Make sure to click ‘Update’ in the top right-hand corner.
Once it’s updated, there should be a box that comes up that says, ‘Page updated. View page.’ Click on the link on ‘View page’.
Once on the page itself, check to see whether the block is now showing more than two blog posts.

If it is, it looks like we’ve solved the problem.

If it’s not, make sure by going to the same block’s settings that under ‘Display Settings’/’Sorting and Filtering’ that there is nothing in the boxes for ‘Categories’/’Authors’/’Tags’. If there is, remove these and update the page; after that, see if it’s still showing only two posts.

If after double checking the block settings are set to show 10 posts and is set to show all posts, it is showing only two posts, please tell us:
That you have done the steps above (so we can see if anything has changed for us),
What browsers you’ve used to view the site (Edge, Chrome, etc.),
    What versions they are,
How recently you cleared cache and cookies on those browsers,
If you have any extensions enabled,
What operating system you’re using (Windows 10, etc.),
Any changes you recently made to that site (besides the steps described above), for example adding a plugin or changing the theme.

    I hope this helps!
I just wanted to add that I’ll be able to reply for about another 6 or 7 hours, but after that I won’t be able to reply for a week. If you reply after that, I’m sure another volunteer or staff member will be able to help, but even if not I will check to see if there have been any updates once I come back.
Thanks for your patience, and I hope you’ll be able to get this solved :)

You are a genius! I got it! Thank you so much! My name is Lance by the way. There is a chance that a pretty famous creative was going to be asking for my blog address during a live event online today and I just wanted the posts visible without hunting for them. It means the world to me that you took the time to help. I am going to upgrade at the end of the month after I get my next speaking gig. So I won’t be stumbling in the dark forever. Again, thank you.
