Showing pages on home page slider
-
Hi, I am advising a friend in setting up his WordPress.com blog, and need some advice please.
He would like to have a static home page with a slider that shows pages, not posts.
I have looked at a lot of themes that have a front page slider (e.g. Toujours, Untitled, Dyad2) but they all seem to only allow posts on the slider, because they use tags to define what will appear, and pages don’t have tags.
Is there any way around this? Are there any themes that use a different way to define slider inclusions other than tags?
Thanks.

A page is not a post https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and only posts https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/ can be placed in sliders.

No and no.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. I was suspecting as much.
Is WordPress.com different to WordPress.org in this regard? I used to use Responz theme by Themify on my self-hosted WordPress site, and I was able to include pages in the slider. So is this feature just not allowed in WordPress.com?
Also I note that the Radiate Premium theme says: “Radiate supports featured content in a slider that highlights your important posts and pages.” Does that mean this write-up is slightly inaccurate?

It seems that Stay theme allows pages to appear on the slider, because it doesn’t define the slider content by tags. So if that is indeed the case, it answers my question.
