I want to be able to show all posts under various categories on pages corresponding to that category. can i do this?
e.g on my blog i want to display all posts in the category ’09 Document’ on my page ‘Documents of DIY Festival 09’

I want my static pages to be able to hold conversations of posts.
or at least for categories to have a static introduction listed above the chronological posts.

    any thoughts?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When we publish a post the post automatically appears on the running page for all posts in our blogs and on Category and Tags pages we have assigned to the posts. The running page for posts is the front page of our blog unless we choose to create another static page and change the running page here > Settings > Reading

If you choose to use the iNove theme it provides the feature of being able to display the Categories in the horizontal menu across the top of the blog instead of displaying static pages there. If you do not wish to change from the Twenty Ten theme then there is a trick you can use to achieve the same thing. The instructions are found here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/page-tabs-as-external-links/

I want my static pages to be able to hold conversations of posts.

We are able to allow comments on all static pages and that allows discussion of the contents of the static page in question. We are able to allow comments on all static pages and that allows discussion of the contents of the post in question.

it seems to me that you do not comprehend the differences between pages and posts. Please read this support documentation entry so you are clear on what they are. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

DRAT! I made a mistake above.
Replace the last sentence in the second to last paragraph with this:
We are able to allow comments on all posts and that allows discussion of the contents of the post in question.
