Showit Migration BACK to WordPress
-
I recently migrated from WordPress to Showit. I never canceled my WordPress subscription, just in case I would want to fully come back to WordPress, which now I absolutely do. How can I finally re-migrate my site back to WordPress from Showit?

Hi there,
From what I can see it should be easy to export your content on Showit, and they produce a file that is compatible with WordPress.com.
You can follow their steps here to export: https://learn.showit.co/en/articles/4785318-export-wordpress
Once you have your showit export file downloaded to your computer, you can import those contents onto your site by following our steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/
Please note that Showit may have functionality that cannot be imported into WordPress.com (even though they provide a compatible export file) but will allow you to get set up here without starting from scratch.
You can also connect your domain to us so your site has your custom theprincesscut.com address instead of a ‘wordpress.com’ address, but that is not possible on our free sites. You can add that ability with any of the plans we offer here, I’d recommend the Personal plan which sounds like it will have all you need for now. Learn more about our WordPress.com Personal Plan here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Once you have upgraded your site let us know and we can walk you through the process of connecting your domain.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you! I actually never even canceled my WordPress original subscription, so I think all of my data should still exist. How can I access my old theme and reinstate that, along with my domain?

I’m not sure I understand, you are referring to the site theprincesscut.com that you have hosted at Hostgator?
I should clarify that we can’t help directly because we don’t host theprincesscut.com on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result we don’t have the ability to take a closer look at your site.
Instead your host (Hostgator) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. You can think of Hostgator as a peer (we both offer WordPress sites) but we’re not connected with them directly.
How can I access my old theme and reinstate that, along with my domain?
I’d recommend reaching out to Hostgator support as they are in the best position to help you with accessing theprincesscut.com.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
