Side Bar Appear at Bottom Problem

    Hi,

    My blog at http://nypsclblog.wordpress.com/

My side bar has re-positioned itself to the bottom of the page recently.

I have removed the category cloud and a text widget but it did not help.

I removed the <more> tag in my recent entries but it did not help.

I set the recent entries to draft mode and re-publish but no avail.

My images are all sized quite small.

    Please help. Thank you.

It looks fine in Firefox 3.0.7. Have you fixed it or were you perhaps seeing a cached copy?

I’m pretty sure it is your more tags, which are with the tag pairs for images.

First thing go to settings > writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then click “save changes.” This should help to prevent this from happening again.

The edit each post with a more tag and move the more tag to where it is like a separate paragraph under the image and then click the “update post” button.

My colleague and I have confirmed that there is problem with the layout as last viewed on IE6. Our organisation does not use other browsers such as Firefox.

I have looked through the tags of my latest post in detail but unable to find anything amiss. I have also tried removing the images and previewing but the problem did not solve even though the post now show no images.

I have since removed the <more> tags from my recent posts.

I did not go back to look at the older posts because I assumed it is the recent posts that cause the problem since this is new. Hiding the recent posts and re-publishing also did not help.

I have adopted the settings that was recommended. Thanks for the tip. I am now still puzzling over how to solve my sidebar problem :(

IE6 is quickly being passed by by the web and web standards, and it will only get worse from now on. Right now, there are 119 reported web standards issues with IE6 and since MS is no longer doing any bug fixes on it, that number will not decrease.

My second suggestion is to open each post on the main page for edit in the wordpress editor, make one change (like adding a space and then deleting that space) and then click the “update post” button. Since you now have wordpress set up to automatically correct HTML problems, it should fix any others that might be causing the issue.

The W3C XHTML validator is showing 90 errors on the main page, and most of them have to do with missing ending img tags or missing alt tags. Although missing img tags and missing alt tags are something that should be fixed for web compliance, they typically do not cause this issue which is why I didn’t mention it in the first place.

the drop down sidebar only appears on firefox for some reason, with IE it seems to work fine.

I left it as it was and the problem was solved by itself. Today the layout was exactly the way it should be – even though I did nothing about it. Perhaps it was some back-end browser bug that Microsoft has solved at their end. A big thank you to all who gave advise :)

@TheSacredPath – I had the same problem, followed your instructions, and it’s fixed! Thank you!!!

    Hey!

I’m facing the same problem and I followed the instructions by SacredPath. However, the sidebar still appears at the bottom. I use Firefox as my browser and I don’t tag my posts at all.

    How do I solve this?
Or, do I wait for it magically repair itself? =(

    HELP!
