Side Bar Size – Vigilance Theme

I’m putting images / website address (widgets) into the right sidebar, and am having problems sizing the height / width. I’ve search the forum to try to find the correct size information. I see that Gravator properties is 133 x 128 pixels. And I read (from somewhere inWordpress.com … source I don’t remember at this time) that the left sidebar is 140 px. I’ve “guestimated” the sizes of the images, as I first allowed wordpress.com to “size” them for me (HA HA!!). Now both images look rather distorted (ASCAR and The Polite Parrot).
Does anyone know the height / width of the Right sidebar in Vigilance?

Sidebar widths vary from theme to theme
The full-width section of the sidebar is 300px wide. The half-width sidebars are 140px wide.
For the full-width section I would stick with 280px wide images and for the half-width section, 130px wide.
When sizing images for the sidebar, only include one of the dimensions – width or height – and then the image will maintain it’s proportions. In the case of the sidebar, only specify a width.

Read your reply and went into the R sidebar widget and fiddled w/the sidebar sizes. You are correct …. I found that 130 width works (The Polite Parrot still looks kind of stretched, but oh well!). Upped the width size to 132 for ASCAR — still hard to read, so I included the image title above it.

I’m also using the Vigilance theme (I love the versatility and layout though I did not upgrade), I ‘guessed’ the size by printing a screenshot on my comp and cropping the gray line running along the top of the bar. You can use a maximum width of 140 for the left and right sidebar and a maximum of 300 for the wide sidebar. Just make sure you set up your document to either 140 or 300 pixels wide or less, and the length is accordingly ofcourse. I’ve put images in the sidebar and the fit perfectly :)
