side column is displaced to bottom of page

  I found several posts for this issue, none of which are helping me. To date I have disabled all plugins and even tried changing theme to no luck. I even went to http://validator.w3.org/ to check the page and wasn’t sure what issue could still exist after updating the theme and finally I went to settings > writing > formatting > (checking the box for) WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically?

  How can I find the issue?
