Sidebar and facebook

  I cannot get the sidebar to appear on the main page, I’ve clicked on visibility and set to show if category = uncategorized (all post are uncategorized) but the sidebar doesn’t appear.

  I have a personal facebook account which is linked to my business account but when I have tried attach facebook to my Gavatar it doesn’t allow me to select my business profile, only my personal account.

  Hi Chloe!

  Please see below:

  I cannot get the sidebar to appear on the main page, I’ve clicked on visibility and set to show if category = uncategorized (all post are uncategorized) but the sidebar doesn’t appear.

  Currently, it looks like you only have one post on your blog, and that post is included in the featured slider. Since the featured slider is the only thing that appears on your front page, the widget area will not appear (slider goes full width). To get the widget area to appear, you’ll need to publish a few more posts that are not included in the featured slider. Can you give that a try?

  Can you explain a bit more about what you’re trying to do? Are you trying to connect your Facebook account to your WordPress.com blog for Publicize? Or, are you trying to set a new Gravatar for your account?

  Are you referring to the services shown here?

  If so, you will only be allowed to add an individual profile (not a business page). You can read more about verified services here:

  Hi I now have 5 post on my front page and the side bar is not appearing. I have removed the side bar from my about page, how can I include the side bar on my front page alongside the other posts?

  Hi Chloe,

  You can do this by going to Dashboard > Widgets in your Dashboard. I see that you added a Text Widget. Open that up and click on Visibility at the bottom. Set it to show Page if Page is Posts Page as seen here:

  Hi I have changed the settings to show Page if Page is Posts Page and even tried Page if Page is FrontPage however it isn’t showing.

  Oh no! Its the other site that I need it for. the archertexture blog. So sorry I didn’t notice the name of the blog at the bottom of my first enquiry totally forgot about the other site. Please could you make the change to archertexture.

  Hi Chloe,

  Please note that that site applies a different theme: Visual.

  You can find the support guide for that here:

  https://wordpress.com/themes/visual/

  As mentioned there, widgets are only allowed on single posts and pages by going to Appearance → Widgets.

  Unfortunately it wouldn’t be possible to add widgets to the front page with this theme.

  There’s an empty Text Widget which is why there is no sidebar of widgets.
