Sidebar Blues

You go through the same process again. Delete what you don’t want in the widget and add what you do want in it then click “save changes”.
-
This is where I’m stuck: click on the blue in the ‘text’ widget in the right hand corner
a popup will appear.I don’t see a way to edit the text box. Or is it a regular post that you can make a text?
-
someone please bump this form e and i’ll take a look at it in the morning. if i go look, i’ll lose the forum.`

@drmike
Yeah, exactly – I know – thank gawd you’ll be here tomorrow. There is only one pop-up associated with a text widget. It does not manifest until after you click the label on the right corner of the text widget. :)@patriotsfan
Yes you are thread jacking and “no” I guess I won’t ask drmike to whack you for it this time because you won’t make it into a habit, right?
IMO you have overdone the red font in your sidebar and forgot that the two colours that colour blind people cannot see are *RED* and green.
Red font is only used for emphasis. Using it is like SHOUTING at your readers. Consequently a blog full of red font is a screaming blog. However, the rest of your sidebar IMO is kewl. ;) -
@butterfly
Text widgets are not posts or pages. You create them here -> Dashboard -> Presentation -> Sidebar widgets (scroll down and see that you can create up to 9 of them). Be sure to “save” after you create one.
*Only* after you drag and drop a text widget that you created out of the “available widgets” box and into the Sidebar box does the little and blue little label on their right hand corner appear. BINGO! That label is what you click on to open them.This may be of help to you. Please get back to us and let us know if it helped you. -

I’m trying to follow directions, but my pic still isn’t showing in the sidebar. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong here?
Here’s what I have in the text widget: (I’ve tried a few things and may have removed something important here in my experimenting. I’m not a huge bonehead – just a medium size bone head.)
Any help would be appreciated from you wordpress rock star bloggers…
-
Wait, why didn’t my code just show up in that comment? I swear I added the code up there. May need to start shopping for a large bonehead caps soon….
Let me try this again:
<div align=”center”> <a
href=’http://badapple.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/scan00011.jpg’> </div> -
Your code won’t show up properly unless you use backticks. Put the code in between two backticks, backticks being the little marks just below the ~ in your keyboard.
When I’m trying to centre and suchlike, I just compose in teh visual editor as if it were a post I was writing with a pic in it. Once it’s just as I want it I click over to the Code editor and copy all the code. Then I place THAT in a text widget.
-
-
here’s what your code should be:
<p align="center"> <a href="http://badapple.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/scan00011.jpg"><img src="http://badapple.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/scan00011.jpg"></a></p>This makes it clickable to the picture, too. If you just want the pic, leave out the ‘a href’ section
-
-
I don’t think so.
well, i do, and badapple was only missing the
<img src="http://badapple.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/scan00011.jpg>part of the code.Sorry for trying to help.
-
That’s fine. We’re making too many guesses around here and that really needs to stop. Let’s wait for the poster to replay so we can help them. :)
-
Thank you, thank you. I was able to just now use the first suggestion to cut and paste from the Code editor. That worked nicely.
Thanks again, this is extremely helpful.
