Sidebar boxes

  I need to remove the white boxes that are located in my sidebar. I would like to put picutres on the side but when i do the picture is too big for the size of the sidebar box that is there. I went to editor to try and take that off or make it bigger but i cant find where it is. If possible id like to add the text widget without having to have the small boxes that come with it. Hopefully you understand what im talking about. Thanks!
