Where did my sidebar go?
-
Dear Sirs,
After the migration, now I have another problem: my sidebar (on righthand side) with all my widgets (posts, archives, latest comments, podcast links, etc) is completely gone. It is there in the Admin, but it is not appearing. This happened suddenly and I do not know why.
Please help.
Best regards,
Jeffery Lung

Your sidebar seems to be loading fine from here.
Could you try another browser or machine to make sure it’s not a problem particular to your current environment?
-
I have tried it on three different machines and three different browsers (Firefox, IE and Safari). Sometimes it’s there, but for most of the afternoon and evening, it has disappeared. I scroll down and find it at the bottom of the blog for some reason.
I haven’t done anything in Admin to warrant these changes. Is this just a migration issue that will resolve soon? It is quite aggravating.

Sounds like the layout issue is caused by extra “div” tags on your posts.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/layout-issues/#sidebar
For example, this is what I edited to fix one of your posts:
https://mlblogsredstatebluestate.wordpress.com/wp-admin/revision.php?action=diff&post_type=post&right=2199692&left=2205865 (this link can only be viewed by you)
To find which posts contain these extra tags, you can serch for “<div”:
http://redstatebluestate.mlblogs.com/?s=%3CdivDid you use any editor other than the standard browser editor when creating / modifying these posts?
-
No. I used the former MLBlogs editor… which we migrated from to WordPress. Lots of my images are gone… and some posts (like this one: http://redstatebluestate.mlblogs.com/2011/05/11/setting-the-mahmud-2/) are completely gone.
Sidebar is back now… but there are so many other problems, like posts and images disappearing or being corrupted during the migration that I am definitely not pleased.
By the way, the link you provided there just takes me to my admin page with a list of posts. I have no idea what you edited.
-
ok, correction, the link did take me to revisions page, but not when I clicked it from my email. Ah, haste.
-
And while I have your attention, how can I change the font sizes in my posts. I’m looking at the “kitchen sink” editor and there’s no button for changing font size.
I asked support this question earlier yesterday and still haven’t received a response.
Thanks.

I have over 1200 entries, but as far as I can tell, most of the images have come back, except for those on this one: http://redstatebluestate.mlblogs.com/2011/05/11/setting-the-mahmud-2/
It did have three images (if I remember correctly) in total. Maybe four. I can’t remember. And the body of the text is completely gone.
If this is the only post still affected, I can live with that. I just wanted to let it be known.
Again, how do we change font size in the editor? There seems to be no button for this.

I’m looking into your missing images & text of the post you linked – it may take a bit of time to get it sorted out, but I will update this thread when I have an answer for you. :)
As for changing the fonts, you can follow the instructions here:

mlblogsredstatebluestate,
Our developers have fixed this (sorry it took so long!). Please let us know if you have any more posts with missing images.
