sidebar disappeared on main page

The sidebar has suddenly disappeared from the main page, along with the navigation and the ability to follow links. The sidebar still appears on individual blog posts, but you can’t get to them from the main page.

Hi @genderdesk,
Looking at your site, it looks like all your pages are set as drafts, which likely the reason you’re having issues.
Please ensure that your content is published, and that you have your homepage set to show latest posts. This can be set by going to Appearance → Customize → Homepage Settings.
I hope that helps and please reach out again if you have any further questions.

Hi, metabreakr, I did not know I had any draft pages or that they were not permitted. I have deleted them all.
The sidebar did not come back.
I do not see any Homepage Settings.

Hi there,
Draft pages are allowed.
But draft pages aren’t visible on your site, and a draft page cannot be set as your home page. Only a public, published page can be set as your home page. That’s why you’re not seeing “Homepage Settings”, because you don’t have any pages that can be set as the home page.
But it doesn’t sound like that’s what you’re trying to do, so let’s step back and clarify what’s going on here :)
The sidebar has suddenly disappeared from the main page, along with the navigation and the ability to follow links.
Are you referring to the front page at https://genderdesk.wordpress.com/ that lists all your posts? I can see your sidebar fine on the front page, and any link I click on your front page works normally for me.
If it’s still missing for you, please check if clearing your browser cache or using a different browser helps at all:
https://wordpress.com/en/support/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
There’s no navigation because you don’t have any pages published on the site (the default menu only lists the titles of published pages), and you don’t have a custom menu set.
I see in https://genderdesk.wordpress.com/2022/02/15/genderdesk-is-broke/ you link to this Wayback Machine snapshot, and it doesn’t contain any navigation menu either:
Yesterday, everything is fine. https://web.archive.org/web/20220214091259/https://genderdesk.wordpress.com/
Just to clarify, by “navigation menu” I’m referring to this (from the theme’s support page):
Are you speaking of something else when you say the navigation has disappeared?
(Regarding the post at https://genderdesk.wordpress.com/2022/02/15/chatting-with-wordpress-support/, the Content Options panel has nothing to do with the issue you reported in this thread, so you don’t need to worry about those settings at this point.)

Thank you so much, it looks like everything is back to normal. By “navigate” I mean “go to”: go to comments, go to dashboard, go to individual posts, from the landing page. The readers who subscribe by email access the blog from individual new posts and did not notice anything out of the ordinary.

So glad you’ve got it, @genderdesk. I see you’ve got your front page set to display all posts currently. Let us know if you need any help going forward!

I do not remember setting the “front page” to anything, if you mean the URL landing page. I would not know where to find such a setting.
