Sidebar disappeared while making changes

I have – or had – a long sidebar, with lots of links, searches that found the blog, a photo, tons of stuff.

Just now, while making ONE little change to a text widget, saving the changes – POOF – the entire sidebar reverted back to what looks like a default sidebar.

Is there any way to retrieve my sidebar, or do I have to start all over again with it?

I see a calendar and many other things in your sidebar. Do you still not see them? (IE7)

That is not the sidebar that I had. I had my photo on the top right, followed by a few buttons – technorati faves, etc etc – then a couple of text widgets, then a random post generator, then a blogroll separated into categories, a flickr widget…. the list is long.

    All that is GONE.

I had that happen the other day. Fortunately for me, I had a tab open with my blog in it and was able to simply drag and drop the widgets back in place in the same order that I had them before. The data in the widgets isn’t gone, by the way. So just grab them and put them back.

Here’s wishing that we could rename the widgets (instead of Text1, Text 2, etc) so that it is easier to recreate the sidebar when this happens.

That totally stinks. I’m glad you were able to recreate yours easily, Vivian. I still see the calendar one in Ian’s though. :(

Vivian – thankyou thankyou thankyou!!! They somehow got saved at the bottom, just as it happened with you.

You saved me a ton of time with that little tip. I’m now busy rebuilding it.

One thing though: this is obviously a bug that has to be looked at, or it’s going to crop up again.
