Sidebar disappears on front page (cutline)
-
Hi,
Sometimes when I publish a post the sidebar disappears from the front page, not from each individual page. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it
doesn´t. Right now the sidebar is gone. Could you please advice? Theme: cutlineThanks,

I don’t think it’s the theme; Any chance you are copying and pasting from a word processing program, like MSWord?

Thanks for your answer!
Yes, I do a lot of cut and paste from Microsoft Word but I wonder what it has to do with the front page, with the sidebar.
But 1) What can I do to bring back the sidebar to my front page and 2) regarding the editor I find really complicated to edit my text in the wordpress editor, another suggestion? -
1) It’s back; I removed some pesky HTML tags from your latest post. If this happens, look for any <div> tags – these will completely destroy the layout.
2) You can give NotePad (a simple text editor) a try.

Word is terrible for leaving in all kinds of garbage tags which as you see have an effect on your blog.
Quoting the FAQ
We recommend that you:
* write directly to our editor
* use either a plain text editor then post to our editor and format the text
* use a desktop clientJust don’t use Word – or expect to see and have to fix mistakes.
As for getting the garbage out of your current posts, I’m hoping thesacredpath stops by to lend some advice. In the meantime, copy the contents of your Post into a plain text editor and then copy and paste that into the WordPress.com Write Editor.
:( (sorry)

/nod to bubel
and a correction to what I posted “In the meantime, copy the contents of your Post from the front page of your blog not the Write Editor, into a plain text editor…” etc. :)

Jennifer’s suggestion of pasting into a plain text editor and then back into WordPress is a good solution as it will strip all the code out.
There is also a “remove formatting” button on the toolbar which looks sort of like an eraser at an angle. You can open the posts you did in Word and then press that button to have it strip out all the code. You might have to do a little reformatting in the editor to get things how you want them, but it isn’t too big a hassle in the long run.

Thanks to all! Thanks to bubel for fixing the problem.
I´ll try to use another editor and in case it happens again I´ll follow your suggestions.
Thanks again!
