sidebar elements showing on my blog that aren’t listed under my widgets
-
Two category names show on my side bar, under my site i.d. but above the widgets I have chosen. On the dashboard they are not listed as existing on pages or posts. I don’t know how to take them off. They are genuine category names and appear in the categories list which I placed within the widget list in order. But what they are doing at the top of the bar I can’t imagine – and I can’t take them off. How do I get rid of them?

What is the URL of the site starting with http:// please?
We cannot answer your questions unless or until your post it here, so please do that now. -

your site is not with WordPress.com.
because your site is self-hosted based on WordPress.org, your support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support/
what shows at the top of the sidebar is the default menu which gets displayed unless you create a custom menu.

At last! I think that is it. I’ll consult the .org/support in future, but in the meantime thanks anyway michael88s.
