Sidebar error in IE, Sandbox customization
-
I’m in the process of customizing the sandbox theme for my church’s web page and I’m having problems with the left sidebar disappearing and/or dropping down the page. I’ve already checked the size of the background image in my sidebar–it does not appear to be content, either pictures or widgets that are causing it to drop or disappear. I’ve read about a problem IE has with absolutely positioned elements that come after floated elements which cause the absolute elements to disappear and I think this may be the root cause. Does anyone have any advice on what to try (aside from image re-sizing which is the only help anyone has offered to date.) Thanks in advance!
The site I’m working on is: stfrancis.wordpress.com

The only things that I can see at the moment is that you don’t have a definition for the main content area. This might be mucking about with the layout in IE. Although, that doesn’t make any sense as #content is defined in the CSS!
Of course, it may be more simple than that. You have the wrapper set to 820x px width. If you add all the widths for primary, secondary, content and then padding and margins on all those elements you get 890px. While FF can cope with that and effectively ignore it, IE
will not and will try and display it exactly as you have defined it.Also, you have the “primary” div set with float right AND position relative. I am not sure that these two are not interfering.
As information, you have a min height set for “secondary”. I would do the same with the primary, just to level them out.
Good luck!
