Sidebar HTML issue
-
I’m trying to add my Netflix queue to my sidebar (at http://moviegoings.wordpress.com/) in one of two ways. Neither is working.
1) With the Netflix RSS feeds found here: http://www.netflix.com/RSSFeeds. When I insert the queue URL into the RSS widget, the result on my blog looks like this (also visible on the blog at the bottom of the sidebar):
# The TV Set
<img src=”http://cdn-0.nflximg.com/us/boxshots/small/70063592.jpg”/>
<p>Shipped on 04/18/08.</p> Soon after selling his first television pilot to one of the networks, idealistic writer Mike Klein (David Duchovny) watches in horror as his vision is transformed into something altogether different. Sigourney Weaver, Ioan Gruffudd, Justine Bateman and Lucy Davis co-star in this hilarious look at what goes into creating the shows we come to love, a comedy based in part on the personal experiences of writer-director Jake Kasdan.In other words, the sidebar converts the HTML so that it is visible as though it had been inserted in the “Visual” window rather than the “HTML” window on the post. Of course, I can’t access the sidebar code directly to fix this . . . what are my other options?
2) Through AdaptiveBlue (http://www.adaptiveblue.com/index.html), which generates sidebar code to insert your queue in a more aesthetically pleasing way. The only way I’m aware of to insert that code into my sidebar is through the text widget, but whenever I put it in and save the changes, it erases the code out of the widget, leaving only the title (visible right above the RSS feed of the queue on the blog). This is the code it generated:
<script src=”http://s6.smrtlnks.com/users/GenerateBlueLinks.php?feedUrl=http%3A%2F%2Frss.netflix.com%2FAtHomeRSS%3Fid%3DP7787788082391702049651371800852211&title=My Netflix List&skin=darkGrey&width=175&numItems=3&type=list&display=both&auto=yes&xsl=netflix.xsl” type=”text/javascript”></script>
Any ideas? Or am I just going to have to live with an ugly, text-only RSS feed?

Whoops, that top display for what I see from the RSS feed isn’t quite right, should look like this (if this works):
# The TV Set

Nope, just have to go see it on my sidebar. Funny that the forums convert at least part of the HTML correctly, but my sidebar won’t. =P

it looks like there is java in that code, if there is that would be the issue. we’re unable to use java @ wordpress.com.

Unfortunately, you can’t have JavaScript-based widgets in WordPress.com, so our Netflix widget would not work.

All we can put in widgets, and into our posts, is plain old HTML/XHTML. RSS feed URL’s should not have javascript in them.
