Sidebar image
-
I know this is a frequently asked question, and I have read all the previous posts, but I still can’t seem to get my image to show up in the sidebar. Please help.

The easiest way to do this is to upload a small image that will fir into your sidebar into a post and save it as a draft. Then you can copy and paste the code into a text widget and place it in your sidebar.

You need to use a text widget then follow the steps outlined here:

So I have tried everything. Can someone tell me exactly what the code needs to look like? My image is <img src=”http://campbellclan.wordpress.com/files/2007/10/witchcupcakes.jpg” alt=”witchcupcakes.jpg” />

the picture you are linking to is too large. Use some sort of editing software such as Photoshop, iPhoto, Gimp, or the like to make it smaller.
If you give us a link to your blog, we might be able to tell you what size would work.
Once you have the image the correct size, the code you have posted above will work correctly. We cannot see what the result is of your previous attempts, because, again, we don’t have a link to your blog.

None of the wordpress.com url’s have “www” in them.
The correct url for your blog is http://campbellclan.wordpress.comExample 2 from
Images: Optimizing, Pre-sizing and Resizing
I can’t figure out how to size my photos correctly. I size them down to the correct pixel sized designated by the template, but after I upload them and check “full size”…..they’re HUGE!You can resize your images after inserting them into a page or post. Click on the image and then grab one of the corner handles and drag to resize. Using a corner handle will retain the height to width radio and not distort the image.
You can also resize images within the WP editor. To do this you can either click and drag the corners, click the little tree-in-a-box icon, or use the Code tab to edit the raw HTML. If you do the latter you can effect image resizing by changing the height and width tags within the image tag.
This will give you the maximum sizes for images that can be used in posts without breaking your blog’s layout http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/how-big-can-my-images-be/

This might be related to this issue with the an error in a big important router network that have international consequences in regard to images? It is not confirmed officially that there is this problem but it seems to be the case.

You can also format the text widget by doing a draft post. There, you can change the image size using code OR the Visual editor, center things, and play with the look. Add links if you want. Then, once it’s as wide as you want and has everything you need, click the Code tab to go to the code editor, copy everything that you see there, then paste that into the text widget.

I can follow the instruction as far as it says it “The URL goes into the widget like this”. Where exactly do I find or make this widget?
-
it’s a text widget, and you can have as many of them as you like. Scroll down on the widgets page to set the number of text widgets you want; then drag them onto the sidebar as needed.
