Sidebar image with text widget not working

  Hi,

  I’m trying to get an image in my sidebar using the text widget but it’s not working.

  The image is uploaded at:
  http://tymanews.wordpress.com/files/2006/12/droppedimage2.png

  So I enter the following in the widgy:
  <img src=”http://tymanews.wordpress.com/files/2006/12/droppedimage2.png” alt=”leaf”/>

  But when I hit save changes and go back to the widget it only says:
  <img>

  Could this be a Mac, Firefox problem?

  Mended.
  It was a malformed ” at the start – you can see it above just before the http:

  I retyped the ” and all is good now.

  I didn’t know I could get malformed characters in a text file so I’ll be careful in the future.

  Might as well post my query here to avoid a new page. Is there a way to align the picture/s that you may wanna add?

  The trick is add a paragraph tag with the align attribute, something like:

  <p align="center">< img src="link-here" > </p>

  You can replace the value “center” with “right” and “left”.

  But sidebar widgets aren’t very wide; that would only work with something less than 20 pixels wide, I’m thinking.

  Hey,I’m still having problems with uploading images on my sidebar.
  Where do you upload the photo? I know we’ve to go to manage upload photos to copy the link but I don’t even know where to upload a photo that is not used for my header or post..

  The Upload box is right below the box you write in when you’re making a post. The photo has to be on your computer before it can be uploaded: I don’t think WordPress allows us to upload images directly from elsewhere on the web.

  No, you can only link to them via the editor. I always recommend against that as the other site may not allow hotlinking and your image wouldn’t show up. (blogger.com does that. Comes up about once a week around here) Some also considering it stealing as you’re using the bandwidth of the other site without permission.

  I’d just save your image to the desktop and upload it. Have you read the FAQ on uploading? It’s got pictures to walk you through the motions.
