Sidebar in Libre 2 theme
-
Hi there,
Is there a way to have the sidebar show on the front/home page in the Libre 2 theme?
Searching for a theme with a right sidebar Libre 2 keeps coming up and I love it otherwise, but would like the sidebar to show on all pages.
I just have a free account.
Thanks for any help :)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
The Libre 2 theme guide says:
Libre 2 includes four widget areas; one Sidebar on single posts and pages, and three Footer areas.
The sidebar widget area will appear on the front page with Libre 2 if, and only if, a static page is set as the front page, and the static front page has the default page template assigned. The other two template options are “no sidebar” options.

Thanks so much for your quick reply :)
That makes sense and does indeed work when I set a static front page.
Another related issue I noticed is that without a sidebar showing, the page seems to wide for the browser (I’ve viewed it in Safari and also Chrome), meaning there is a not just a scrolling bar to scroll up and down, but also left to right. Is this normal with this theme, or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks again.

Your site is marked private, so I, being a volunteer, can not view it. However, the Libre 2 demo doesn’t have a horizontal scroll bar when I view it on FF and Google Chrome. I don’t know what the explanation might be. You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar here to call for staff attention to the topic.

Yes my blog is private as I’m still playing around with it. I can make it public though so you can see :)
After more searching I have found that other people have also had the horizontal scroll bar appear in this theme. I haven’t actually made any posts yet so it is just the generic demo first post there. I have added a image for the header to try it out but otherwise haven’t done much…

Thanks for temporaritly making it public. : )

I find no horizontal scroll bar on your site, and I’ve been unable to reproduce that effect with manipulation of the browser window width. I don’t have an explanation. What’s the device, and the aspect ratio of the screen, that you’re using to visit the site.

I’m using a Macbook Air 13-inch (http://www.apple.com/au/macbook-air/specs.html)
This is the other thread I came across where someone mentions the same problem though I’m not sure if they resolved it:

I’m able to see the horizontal scrolling on your site in Chrome as well. It looks like it’s been reported to the design team for investigation – it’s triggered when things like Categories, Tags, etc. are disabled under My Site > Customize > Content options.
We’re going to look into it a bit more on this end, and we’ll keep you posted when we have an update!

We’ve tracked down what was causing the horizontal scrolling, and have deployed a fix. I’ve double-checked your site in Chrome and it is now displaying as expected.
Please let us know if you have any questions about the above, or if you run into further issues!
