Sidebar not displaying properly
-
There is probably a really easy fix for this. My sidebar just started displaying on the bottom of page instead of… well the side. I’ve looked at the page in I.E. and Firefox and it still displays incorrectly. Thanks for your help!

On your post about Bud Powell, open it for edit and go to the “code” tab. Right after “responded with…” but before the “more” tag, place an ending div tag
</div>WordPress seems to have a problem with the more tag for the past month or so and it isn’t closing the div when the more tag is inserted, which causes the sidebar to head south of the border, so to speak.

Oops, found another. The stuff in “Developing Jazz Piano” was obviously copied in from the web and brought with it all sorts of strange code.
Before shucking the entire post and starting over though, again try inserting an ending div tag (see post above) in code view, right after “…and stretching)”
If that doesn’t work, copy the entire post out to your clipboard, delete everything from the post, and then use the “paste as plain text” icon on the extended tool bar so that it will strip out all of the extraneous code. If you use the more tag in that post again, then manually add in the closing div tag as I’ve explained ahead of the more tag.

Hmm… I wrote all the stuff under “Developing Jazz Piano” myself in WordPress. I’ll try these things now and see if they work!
Thanks! brb…

Ok, the plain text copy and paste worked perfectly. I don’t know what I could have done to effect that post in particular. Oh well! Thanks for the info.
The </div> is interesting too. It looked like sometime when I added “more” it included the div end tag and sometimes I didn’t.
Thanks thanks thanks!

The TinyMCE editor wordpress uses, or their implementation of it is less than perfect right now and the div tag thing seems to be popping up all over. Hopefully they will get things cleaned up soon.
You’re very welcome, and happy blogging.

Hi, can you give me some specific guidance on my blog too? It’s http://www.georgetowncustomhomes.com/blog
I was copy and pasting and so I know it must have brought in some trashy code. I’m not sure what to enter and where to enter it. Any help would be great. I almost had a heart attack when I couldn’t find my side bar thinking I erased it!

Ok, i figured it out….i just deleted a bunch of /div’s that were added to the end of the post. That brought the sidebar up.
Thanks!
