Sidebar on home page with showcase of sticky posts
-
Dears,
I am currently updating the design of my blog using the twenty eleven themes.
I have created a page, based on the showcase template. This is my home page and I am able to add sticky post and featured picture…fine until there! However, Below the showcase section, I have the section with the “recent post”. However, I don’t see my sidebar there. When I did not use the static page as front page, I had my sidebar, but now with a static front page, I don’t see it anymore.
Also, is there a way to get rid of “Featured Post” written in the showcase section?
Thanks a lot for your help
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Arli!
In order to get your widgets to show up on the sidebar of your Showcase page, you’ll need to add them to the Showcase Sidebar under your Widgets page here:
https://happyarliblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
So, if you want a widget to show up on single post pages as well as in the Showcase page, you’ll need to have it in both areas.

This CSS code should do the trick!
h1.showcase-heading { display: none; }Let me know if you need anything else!

Thank you so much! this has worked perfectly!
So maybe, I can ask for another question…. on my static page with the showcase page, is there a way to add a small picture for the post which are referred at the bottom of the page, i.e. within the recent posts, the first one appears completely, but for the other ones, you only have the title.. is there a way to make appear a small featured picture…
Maybe I am exagerating!!!! :-)
thanks again for your help

Hi Arli,
Unfortunately, that isn’t a theme option nor is it a quick add via CSS. It would require making some adjustments to the theme files that aren’t possible at WordPress.com.
I apologize!
