sidebar suddenly empty of all widgets, nothing's changed in admin page

vs Safari 8.0.2 Several days ago I added a number of new widgets to refresh my blogs – both of them at the same time. They both functioned immediately, all the widgets…Two days later, they are all there on the one blog, carolkeiter.wordpress.com, but suddenly all have disappeared from the sidebar on the other- completely empty space. I checked using Firefox, same story. All features are present on the admin page (appearance;widgets) but vanished from the blog site. I opened each widget, clicked save, but the sidebar remains excruciatingly empty. I could drag them all off and reload them again, but was hoping that perhaps they will reappear? I had just posted a political blog, was wondering if I was hacked?

See HTML Troubleshooting support page. You probably have an unclosed div tag or some other formatting error on the front page resulting in the disappearance of the sidebar from your Homepage and categorized post archives pages. Note that the sidebar still appears on your posts, for example:
- Elizabeth Warren’s Exposé of Citigroup
- “Man” | animation by Steve Cutts | rEvoLuTioN
,
both found in the “Awareness” category of post archives, and on your About page.

Thank you so much, as soon as I read your response re: unclosed div tag, i remembered that I had just been ‘cleaning up html’ that was exposed on my blog post, for one a week or so ago. I was going into the html and i even pasted what I cut out “<div id=”fb-root”></div>” into a word doc because i wasn’t sure what it is. in just a few attempts, after briefly reading the troubleshooting, i went back to that same blog and picked out this html code, and voila, my sidebar was back!! I appreciate your insights and forwarding me the troubleshooting link. I didn’t think it would be so easy, except that I had already been wondering what that was. :-)
