Sidebar widgets
-
I am using the Edin theme. I made my first post, and it had a ‘Sidebar widget’ with default text. It included the standard instructions about using the Customizer to change it but when I go to the Customizer and Widgets, there is no option for the sidebars on posts. How do I get rid of that mess. I am brand new to WordPress so please keep it simple for me.

Hi,
I found the same to be the case on a test site with the Edin theme activated. The sidebar widget area does not appear at Customize > Widgets. However, I was still able to access and edit sidebar area widgets at the wp-admin widgets page. Your wp-admin widgets page would be https://sharmonetec5213.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php.
I’ll tag the topic for staff attention, because the omission may indicate a bug.

The trick is that there is no sidebar on the front page of your site. But if you go to the customizer, then in the preview pane and click on a page that does have a sidebar, you’ll be able to edit the widgets with the live preview.
Or you can use wp-admin too. :)
Thanks for your help here, doc!

You’re welcome. : )
But don’t you think that’s poor design? Shouldn’t all widgets on the site appear at Customize > Widgets? -
@musicdoc1 I can understand why they did it the way they did, and I can also understand your complaint. I’ll forward your feedback though.
