Sidebar widgets move to bottom of page on Posts
-
Using Modularity Lite for new site – can’t resolve why my three Sidebar widgets move to the bottom of the page for Posts. They remain in the correct place on the side ok for Pages.
I’ve stripped the site back to the bare bones, but can’t find any wayward code in the remaining 3 Pages and 1 Post (the Post only has two words).
Anyone got any ideas? I’ve tried the advice on the WP support pages & other forum posts, but still can’t solve it.
Thanks!

Well let’s see how the theme is designed to operate.
“You can choose whether or not to have a sidebar in your theme–no sidebar means more room for full-width photography–and fill out an optional Welcome Message. The Welcome Message will appear just above the optional slideshow.” From: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/modularity-lite/
“Two widget areas: sidebar and footer (four columns); both optional. If you activate the sidebar, it can be deactivated on any individual static page.
From: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/06/24/modularity-lite-100th-theme/No widgets on static pages or single posts (optionally or not):

This is most often caused by an open HTML tag in one of your posts.
Go to settings > writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then click “save changes.”
Now, starting with your latest post, open it in the editor, switch from the visual tab to the HTML tab (waiting for the page to refresh) and then switch back to the visual tag (again waiting for it to refresh), and then click “update post.” Check your blog and if it is back to normal, you are golden. If not, open the next post and do the same thing till it goes back to normal.

@TSP – thanks for that – I’d already done that, and following your post re-done it – to no avail. I even changed all the Pages to “draft”, leaving the site with a single Post – the front page displayed correctly, but clicking on the single Post, found it still displaying wrong (ie sidebar widgets appearing at the bottom instead of side).
@timethief – I think that is the problem I’ve got, though I’m not sure if it is a browser compatability issue, or just hard luck!
I’ve have 4 sites using Modularity Lite – 3 are displaying the relocated sidebar problem with Posts per this thread, while the 4th is displaying Posts correctly e.g. http://jottingsonrugby.com/2011/01/29/rugby-art/ – but I haven’t updated that latter site recently, and I fear if I do, it too will “pop!” and the sidebar will drop to the bottom of the Posts!
This isn’t the worst problem in the scale of things, but is annoying.

In this post, http://rl1908.wordpress.com/2011/06/26/test-3/ , the W3C validator is claiming there is an extra ending div tag. That means that extra ending div tag is prematurely ending another div in the XHTML. Since you are using image widgets, I’m assuming that there is an issue with the image widget itself as I cannot see any other place where there is likely a div issue.
I would contact staff directly at http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ .

@TSP. Thanks for going to that trouble. I will contact WP staff.
I did change the sidebar widgets to see what effect that had, but no matter what widget(s) I used, the same problem arose.
thanks to all for your efforts!

I think the validator is right, and I think it’s a mistake in the theme (I checked the sourcecode of another blog too). Single-post page includes an extra closing div tag before the id=”footer-wrap” div. So this definitely requires staff attention.
