Sidebar widgets mysteriously gone, links no longer work
-
I just noticed that my sidebar widgets are gone and my links no longer work. I test and preview my post each day before I publish and everything worked last night when I posted, but this morning I was notified by a reader that he can’t find a comment box at the bottom of my post, and my links no longer work. He reads on the WordPress Reader. I checked for myself, and sure enough, he is right. Very mysterious. And disturbing. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi there,
That can happen if you have stray HTML code in one of your blog posts (usually from copying and pasting text from somewhere else into the post editor). We have more details about how to troubleshoot problems like that on our HTML Troubleshooting page.
I checked your blog and found that stray code in this post:
I removed the stray code and resaved the post, and now your sidebar is back to normal. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

When I go to my widgets in my blog I can’t move any of the boxes and my side bar disappeared. I used to have a text widget which is not there either. Please help.

Hi sarametzger,
Your site at livethegoodlifewithsara.com isn’t hosted at WordPress.com — it’s a self-hosted WordPress site using the software from WordPress.org, so the WordPress.com staff don’t have the tools or access to help with problems there. If the tips I provided above don’t work for your site, you can post in the WordPress.org forums for more help with it. :)

I went ahead and deactivated all my plugins and then installed them 1 by 1 to see if any of them caused the problem. It turns out that it was Google Analytics by Yoast. Have you ever heard of this happening before? And if I can’t install Google analytics by Yoast do you know if there is another google analytics plugin that i can use instead?

@sarametzger
As that site is not hosted here by WordPress.COM, our support docs do not relate to it, and we cannot provide support for it. You are posting to the wrong support forum. You are referring to a WordPress>ORG site.WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
