Sidebar wonky in Blix
-
I’ve noticed more often lately (mostly later at night for some reason) that my sidebar (using Blix) is wonky. Appearing way down after scrolling the page instead of where it should be, and not aligned with the sidebar but encroaching over to the left. Most often, It happens and I haven’t made any actual changes to the sidebar itself.
I’ve tried logging out and back in, closing my internet window and starting fresh, clearing my cache and nothing seems to make a difference.
Is there some easy explanation for something I should know but obviously don’t?
Thanks in advance. It’s usually you raincoaster, who happens to be here and has some miracle (translate.. easy thing I just was not seeing myself) solution.
I do luv ya. I’ll see if I can talk to Santa about something nice in your stockings this year!

I am indeed here. If you want to put something nice in my stockings for Christmas, how about Viggo Mortensen? He’s got great legs.
I’ve never seen that sidebar problem on your blog, and I’m always there in the middle of the night. What browser and version are you using? I’ve seen errors like that in Custom CSS and sometimes in IE6 on standard themes where there are a lot of pictures posted.
I’ve just checked in FF and IE and it looks fine to me in both. The only thing I can suggest at this point is that you’ve got a lot of images in the sidebar; if any of them are hosted elsewhere and something goes wrong with them, they might change size unless you’ve prevented that by hand coding the text widget. Other than that, I got nuthin’.

Dang. It’s wonky to me but I’ve gone and done all those silly housekeeping things on one’s own computer and no change. I do plan to move the dang blog directory widgets to a separate page instead of the sidebar, and those are the only images I can think of that might be hosted elsewhere. Some are uploaded to the blog, others aren’t. I try upload “awards” to my own blog too, to avoid that. I am using IE6, and the sidebar still looks wonky to me but if you tell me it’s not wonky to you perhaps I won’t worry about it.
You do know now I have to go search Viggo Mortensen to see what you’re talking about. I’ll see what I can do about that for you though. ;-)

All you need to know about Viggo is here:
http://raincoaster.com/2007/10/26/operation-global-media-domination-viggo-women-friends/He said once he had a makeup artist and a co-star do him up like a transvestite and he went out and spent the whole afternoon like that. Got quite a few whistles.
Sorry I couldn’t be more help; maybe I’ll only get Dominic Monaghan!

Ok, I owe you Viggo Mortensen. I’m not sure how… but I’ll see what I can do.
It did turn out to be one of the directory widgets. I’ve removed some of them straight up. I meant to do this earlier because one really doesn’t need to belong to so many, but have beens spending scads of time voting at fuelmyblog so have neglected some blog housekeeping. One more day until the end of the contest and then it’s back to the housekeeping for me.
Thanks raincoaster. You’re like a ray of sunshine on a stormy day. Cheesy yes, but true. I only ever come for help when the brain is just not kicking in. It always ends up being something simple I’ve overlooked, and you never tease me about that.
Viggo in your stockings sounds like a plan.
