  It would be good to be able to provide or incorporate a new sidebar in each page or at the very least on each parent page or section of a website.

  Why? I’m not being argumentative I just don’t understand where you are coming from. Would you please expand so I understand what useful purpose would this serve and how it could benefit my blog and it’s ranking?

  Widgets generally accomplish one or more of the following things:
  1. improve the functionality of a site by providing reader accessibility to content that is not located on the front page;
  2. act as leaders for e-commerce or other transactions (not applicable to wordpress.com blogs);
  3. promote and lead traffic to the site serving the widget.
  4. redirect readers to high quality sources of relevant information found in authoritative blogs in the same niche.

  Widgets can spoil blog design and distract readers’ eyes away from reading content. They also compromise blog speed (page loading time) and that’s important because Google has just made page loading time a ranking factor.

  I post only widgets for the purposes stated in points 1 and 4 above. But perhaps you can provide me with a reason or reasons to change that. :)

  The main reason for us in wanting to have the choice of incorporating new or extra sidebars is that a particular sidebar can have information included into it that is relevant to perhaps a certain section of the website.
  In our case, we provide a news website for the local community.
  http://www.kapitiindependentnews.net.nz
  Having this choice would also give us the ability to provide extra news on the page at a point where readers can read (perhaps short items of interest) without having to scroll down the page.
  I guess what I am saying is to make the page more user friendly.
  Having the same wording,links or pictures on the sidebar the same in every page is too me anyway not very useful.
