  I am trying to create sidebars, but the widget settings do not include the ability to link to an image. Is it because I have the Free Plan?

  The Twentysixteen theme should allow you to drag an Image widget to your sidebar and then select some options for it. The one you’re probably referring to is the last one, “Link URL (when the image is clicked)”

  Are you not able to select the Image widget, or don’t you see that option at all?

  I was able to add the image, but not on the side, only at the bottom of the page where I added the html code. On the side I can manage only to add the link and I want the image itself.
  To answer your question, I do not see the option at all. I had to go to the html section.
