sidebars and widgets
-
I cannot get any sidebars or toolbars to show. I have a site with only a ‘home page’
There is no personal details sidebar.
The Twitter Widget does not appear after many attempts.
I cannot find a LinkedIn widget. Is this a limitation of the theme? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I see that you got some help with this from volunteers in your other support thread, but I’d be happy to keep helping you with it here.
Widgets like your Twitter widget will appear when you click on the folder icon in the top left of your site: https://cloudup.com/c71-VFgszkf
I cannot find a LinkedIn widget. Is this a limitation of the theme?
No, that’s not a theme-specific limitation — WordPress.com does not currently have a LinkedIn widget. Is there a particular widget or LinkedIn details that you’d like to add to your site? I can help see if there’s a way to set it up on your site, even without a specific widget.

Thank you.
1. I can now see the Twitter widget. Does the user see the feed automatically, or do they choose to see it too?
2. The ‘about me’ heading in the side bar has gone. I have completed my details in the appropriate pages and it was there before. This is important. otherwise the blog will not work for me.
3. I have re entered the about.me/pmdyer and nothing is appearing in the folder top left. -
UPDATE:
Thank you…. Now it is close.
1. I have a small image of myself at the top left. So now the blog is looking as I intended. To make it work harder I’d ideally I’d like a follow blog, email icon, twitter follow and LinkedIn icon just to the right of this picture in the side bar.2. With the about.me in the Open menu now working (Thank you for the guidance) then I am ready to go.
3. Is it possible to put a flood blog logo fairly prominently in the main part of the screen.

Hi Paul,

You can Add a Social Links Menu to get various links to social media sites. There isn’t a way to add those directly to the right of your photo in the sidebar, but you can add them to the bottom of that sidebar. You can see how that social links menu looks on the Editor demo site (the Twitter and Facebook icons in the sidebar there).
If you’d like more control over those icons, you can use our guide to Add Social Media Buttons to Your Sidebar, which will add them to the same sidebar area as your other widgets.
3. Is it possible to put a flood blog logo fairly prominently in the main part of the screen.
The Editor theme doesn’t have a way to add logos or images directly to the main part of the screen (where your blog posts appear), but you could put an image in a sticky post instead. That way, the post with the image will stick to the top of the screen.
