Sideshow of images actually in the header?
-
Are there templates offered which would allow me to include multiple images as a changing slideshow in a box on one side of the header which appears on each page? Doesn’t matter if it’s on the left or right of the header. Don’t want to have space taken by having the image below the header and running across the entire width of the page.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The closest you can get to that is the Modularity Lite theme. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/modularity-lite/
Or choosing a theme that has a post slider for featured image posts.

Hi, Thanks for the follow-up.
What I’m looking to do is to have the photos “slider” on the same line as the site title or tag line, not above or below. These would basically be head shots of a variety of people. I’m new to WordPress, … is there some way to do this? What I have in mind is some sort of image object (“block”?) that I could drag to and position in the header.

You can’t modify the content and the layout of the header, except if you have the Custom design upgrade.
One thing you could do is use coding in a text widget, to display an animated gif or a slideshow in the sidebar instead of the header. But this won’t be side by side with the title, of course. Exception: Fusion (unlike most themes, its sidebar starts over the header area).
There are also a few themes that display the blog title and a narrow header image in the left column: Imbalance 2, Ascetica, Lovebirds, The Columnist. This is also possible in Hatch, if you use the logo image instead of the header image. -
OK, thanks.
I’m working with the Beatrice template now. I’m thinking that perhaps I can work around limitations to get something that approaches the look I want.
I wish Squarespace would come up with more templates. Anyone who looks at WordPress’s templates comes away thinking Squarespace is kinda stingy in the themes arena.

If you are using Squarespace or are hosting your site with WordPress.ORG software, then this forum is not useful for you.

You’re right – when I mentioned Beatrice I was just giving up on WordPress.com and had started over again working on Squarespace. I’m afraid I got out of sync responding to posts.
Anyway, thanks.
