I don’t know if this is possible, but can you make a WordPress.com site where people can sign up for it like Facebook?

    It’s called Buddypress:

    BuddyPress

It is not hosted at WordPress.com, though.

RATS! The dog did that! I put him down so he can’t do that again. Sorry :(

We have been receiving questions like yours and what they really amount to is that some wordpress.com blogger really want a forum and not a blog. We cannot embed a forum or buddypress in wordpress.com free hosted blogs. Buddypress is as raincoaster has indicated gor those who have self hosted wordpress.ORG installs.
Read the differences here > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

When it comes to wordpress.com blogs you can get a free forum from a site on the interent and link to it from your blog. Perhaps that will suit you.

It’d be easier to help you if you’d give us a more precise idea of your requirements. Buddypress is a social media site building software platform. It works like Facebook with the addition of a WordPress blog and static pages. If all you want is a membership site, what you want is a private WordPress.com blog.

I’m looking for something like “Sign Up Now” “Login User:——- Password:——-“
For example, Facebook is a site that has that, and so does Myspace.

    Privacy settings >

I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose – You would use this setting to create a private blog. If selected, another area will appear where you can control which WordPress.com users will be able to log into your blog to read it (those users will only be able to read your blog, they will not get access to your dashboard to edit your blog, please see the section on adding users if you want to give people edit access). You can add 35 users to your private blog, and you can purchase the Unlimited Private Users upgrade if you want to add more. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

I don’t really want a private blog, I want something anyone could sign up for. Also, I don’t really want the blog “looking” site either. More along the lines of someone’s own page where they can make their own “writings” and read mine.

T believe that the phrase “sign-up” requires calrification. If it’s a public blog then why make anyone sign-up at all? What purpose does that servegeven that you can moderate all comments? I don’t get it. Having to register with a blog in order to comment on it is a deterrnat to becoming a reader of the blog.

If what you mean is you want a puvlic blog and you want to make some users official users of the blog so they can publish posts in the blog as well as commenting then please see these entries:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/

What you appear to be describing is a self-hosted wordpress.ORG install with BuddyPress ie. social media site building software platform just like raincoaster has said above.

    Please see here > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
    and here > http://buddypress.org/
