Signatures

  Hi I’m new here, my Question is can you use Signatures in my blogs here or is this not allowed, also can i use Signatures in the Forums.

  What do you mean by “signature”? We use usernames here as opposed to personal names. :) Everything we post here in the forums goes into Google’s cache just like your posts do. If you wish to use a different nickname on your blog you can set that up on this page -> Users -> Your Profile (left hand column – click “Update Profile” to save). And if you wish to reveal your actual name on your blog that’s up to you.

  I’m don’t know why you tagged this post with “links”. Could you please explain more?

  You can’t use forum style signatures in this forum; it’s considered spamming. And if you used them on your blog, you’d look like a total newbie, because HELLO, people are already reading your blog. Presumably they know who you are. Signatures to send them to your blog would be redundant. It’s not disallowed, but it would make you look like a clueless self-promoter. It’s not good blog etiquette.

  What you CAN do is choose a theme that automatically displays the author’s name on each post. Some do, some don’t. And for the forum, link your username to your blog so that it’s a clickable link. That way when you comment on other people’s blogs or here, people can click on it to get to your blog. You do that under your Profile. (which, on re-reading, I see you’ve already done)
