How do i get back to WordPress after signing up for bluehost? I got as far as the themes and didn’t see any free ones so I thought I was on the wrong site and left. Now i don’t know if I have a wordpress account or not

This is WordPress.com. a place that hosts sites just as Bluehost does. It sounds like you need to be reaching out to Bluehost for help.

I was on a beginner’s guide for WordPress site and followed the recommended link to buy a domain and hosting, which brought me to BlueHost.

Once set up it seemed to be taking me back to WordPress. I think I’m on WordPress but I never set up an account through them

The wordpress software is used by numerous different hosts. That link looks complicated. Have you considered building a site here at WordPress.com instead?

That was my plan but was led to bluehost to buy domain and hosting. I already paid them. Am I able to still use WordPress to build my site?

Hi Faithcat21,
Yes, you can use WordPress.com free plan. If you need to install a premium them and plugin then you have to buy any of the premium plans from WordPress!

Check out the best plans from WordPress.
Thank You

If you have bought Domain and Hosting from Bluehost then, you will install Open Source WordPress from WordPress.org

Thank you.
So, I kept my domain name through Bluehost and cancelled their hosting.
I then signed up for hosting with Hostgator.
I installed WordPress from checkout screen at 10:30 on Saturday. I read that it could take up to 48 hours to publish, but it’s been 56 and I’m still getting the sad face when I go to my https address.I’m trying to learn through Youtube and I don’t have much free time outside of work. I set aside the weekend to work on it but couldn’t even start.
Thanks for any help

@faithcat21 the site you are referring to appears to be a self-hosted WordPress (also called “.org”) site hosted on Hostgator Web Hosting, and not a site hosted on our WordPress.com service.
To clarify, we are not the only providers of WordPress sites, and Hostgator also happens to offer WordPress sites, but they use a different version of the platform than what we use here. Because of this we are not able to help with your issue as it lies outside of our system. See http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ for more info.
You can find support for your self-hosted WordPress site here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
You may also wish to contact your host’s support team for more assistance.
Hope that points you in the right direction!

I found out that I needed to have the nameserver assigned from Bluehost to Hostgator and now that’s in propogation which could take 2 more days. At least I’m on the right track.
I’m sorry that I didn’t realize I am with .org instead of .com. I appreciate your help.

Happy to clarify. Propagation works the same here as it does for those hosts, so “2 more days” is something of a generic worst case guideline. The truth is it can take up to 48 hours but often is just a few hours in most cases I’ve seen.
I should also add that we provide support for all sites we host, so if you find that helpful you can always transfer your site to us: https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/
Best of luck with your site!
