Signing in repeatedly to leave comments…
-
Suddenly I’m finding that whenever I want to leave a comment I have to sign in again — even though I’m already signed into my blog. This applies to my own comment section as well if I wish to respond to someone. Just started happening day before yesterday. Can someone tell me why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks a lot.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s strange. Do you have more than one username account? If so then which one is involved?

It’s also possible that you have and come and go connectivity issue. In order to help you Staff need to know your specific computing environment details. Please work through what follows and report back.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view

I only have one username on Word Press though I have three blogs and am a joint member of a 4th. All have the same name and password and all four of them are asking me to log in each time though I AM logged into my blogs.
The Blogging 101: Class of January 2015 site does not, however, ask me to repeat that step. It seems to be just my sites.
I’ve cleared my cache and that didn’t helped. This just happened day before yesterday. I was pinning something from my blog to my Pinterest account and after that it wouldn’t let me leave comments anymore without clicking on the WP icon.
I will have my husband look at the list of stuff to do. I am totally blonde when it comes to computers.
Thanks for the response.

It’s still spotty this morning. I’m going to have to leave, but I will check it more closely when I get home and let you know. Thanks so much for checking back, timethief. I appreciate it.

Alrighty! I took my Chromebook to Starbucks and used it. It’s didn’t make me keep signing in.
At home now the Chromebook is fine, but when I got on my laptop it made me do it with the first comment I left on my blog and after that it was fine.
Does it sound like this might be a problem with the laptop then? I’m confused.
Thanks, timethief, for continuing to give this your attention. I appreciate it. It’s just an annoyance to me because it means something’s amiss.

Wait! You do have third party cookies enabled, right? That’s required. https://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/#how-do-i-enable-third-party-cookies
-
Thanks, timethief. I have subscribed to it already. Yesterday I went into settings/discussion and unchecked the requirement that people fill in their name and email address. That seemed to take care of it. Just now I went back in and checked it again. Everything seems to be ok this morning, but I’m wondering if I should just leave that unchecked. It’s never caused a problem before and probably has nothing to do with it. I will watch for their feedback.
Thanks so much for all the time you spent chasing this around. It’s much appreciated.

Hi there! I’m glad to hear that everything is ok now, but comments should also work correctly when you require that people fill in their name and email address. If you’d like to enable that again, and you’re still having trouble with it, we can keep troubleshooting the problem with you.
Timethief mentioned Third Party Cookies in her last reply — have you checked to see if cookies (including third-party cookies) are enabled in the browser on your laptop? When those cookies are disabled it can prevent you from staying logged in to your account.

You know, I haven’t played with it since the last post I did. I’ll make it a point to change it and watch today and see what happens. I’ll let you know if it does the same thing.
Thanks so much, Rachel. You guys have been wonderful!

Ok. I changed it back to user have to sign in the first comment. Everything seems fine. It didn’t make me sign in to comment on my blog or anyone elses’ so hopefully it was just a glitch in the program or something. If it gives me any further trouble I will let you know.
Thanks again for the wonderful support. Have a great day.
