Signing out to sign into a second account
-
I have two accounts, and when I am in either I can’t find a way to sign into the second after signing out of one. I am always directed to the recently new Sign-in page which has no option to “sign into another account”. The large box in the centre of the page serves no purpose except to create a new blog; the single button at the top right of the page is a “Sign in” button (Acceder in Spanish), which simply returns me to the account I’ve just signed out of.
Is there a magic button or trick I’m not seeing.
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Can you try clearing the cache in your browser? You can follow the instructions to do that here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
Hope that helps!

If Honey’s suggestion doesn’t work, you could also use a different browser (Firefox for one account, Chrome for another) but long-term after you sign out of one account, clicking the “log-in” button shouldn’t sign you back into the account you just logged into. So If that keeps happening after you clear the cache, or if you have to clear the cache every time to log into your other account, please let us know what browser, including version you are using as well as your computer’s operating system so we can tag this thread to have a happiness engineer send a bug report to the developers.

Hi, and thanks for the suggestions.
I’m hesitant to clear the cache when it seems that no reason has been given for the appearance on every occasion for the WordPress “create a new account page”, when I know that clearing the cache will waste a lot of my time putting my system back together afterwards.
I have tried different browsers (on my MacBook) before, and the experience was always unsatisfactory – quite logically considering Safari is the Apple browser system.
It would be nice to know how/where I can call up the general WordPress sign in page (to choose the page I sign into), as there is as yet no indication that this is not possible, nor that WordPress have removed this option from their system.
Thanks again; I’ll hang fire a little before I clear the cache.

I think going to this page might work better for you:
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php
Please give that a shot and let us know if it works as you were hopping.

Dear lizthefair (I suppose I ought to invent a false name too),
Yes, this is what I was hopping (sic) for. Many thanks.
I can now use this link to get into both my blogs.
What puzzles me is why, when I sign out, I am not sent to this address – as I used to be – but to one which (if I could attach an image to his note you would see) only has a centre box which has the .wordpress.com already on offer (after a space for you to enter a new blog name) and reads “crear sitio web” (I work in Spanish as well; it will read “create your blog” or something similar in English) on the blue “okay” button.
The surround for this box is entirely dark, but for the announcement “Create your new blog free” (or whatever it is, translated from Spanish).
The problem with this page, as I see it, is that there is only only button along the black top line, which reads “Acceder” (Enter, I imagine), which if you click simply sends you back to the site you’ve just signed out from. Which is not helpful.
Perhaps what I’ve now described will tell you what it is that is wrong with the action of my “sign out” button
I’ve just copied this response to an email replying to your email notification, and to which I’ve attached the image of the page I get when I sign out (if you can get it).
Thanks again.

The fact that you are getting signed back in when you click the “login” button at the top is strange, and doesn’t happen when I follow your same process. It could be a small bug, or something about the way your browser is interfacing with the site. If you’d like to have someone look into that part, please share your browser information (with version #) and operating system and version as that is helpful in bug squashing.
As for the rest of what you describe, I do understand what you are saying, and the site behaves the same way for me. I don’t work for Automattic so I don’t have an official response on the “why” front, but my guess is the assumption (and preference) is that most people who use WordPress.com have one account and they use that account to access all of their sites.
Based on that assumption the need to log out and log back in with a different account is not a common occurrence and so is not a major consideration in how they set up the behavior of the site. What is common is that people who go to http://wordpress.com/ without being signed into an existing account, do not currently have an account–so they want it to be easy to create one.
If the link to the new login page solves your problem, go ahead and click “resolved” on this thread. If you’d prefer to have someone look into why the other “logout, log back in” process isn’t working for you, please post your browser info and I’ll mark this thread for staff assistance.

Thanks again, Liz (I assume),
At last I can understand why what is happening is happening – or pretty much. That’s all I need, and I’m happy with my split-site sign in solution.
Resolved. (I assume this is how I state this; I can’t see a “Resolved” button to click anywhere.

if you scroll back to the top of the topic (on the website, not in your e-mail) you’ll see an “About this Topic” section on the top right. There should be a link right under where you subscribed to the topic that you can click to mark the thread resolved.
Thanks!

Done, Liz.
Thanks.
