Simple book – blog copyright question.
-
Hey everyone!
A little bit of context – I set my self on a mission this year to read at least 1 book per week and it’s going pretty well so far (psychology, self-help etc .. ). Even though many other people are already doing this, I thought it would be awesome to share the “golden nuggets” I find with others in a form of a podcast and blog.
So, my question is – can I use parts of the books I read – sentences, paragraphs or even a whole page – on my blog? Of course, with a proper way of giving credentials and all.
Thank you so much for your help!

Hi there,
We cannot advise you on exactly what is allowed and what not. Only a lawyer specialising in copyright can do that.
Under the Fair Use principle we also mention in our support docs, using short extracts with attribution should be fine, but should a copyright holder decide to submit a takedown request against you our terms of service team will decide. Should the copyright holder take you to court it’s ultimately up to the judge to decide.

Indeed, that would be a very thin line to walk on. I’ll think about it. Thank you both! :)
