Simple Money Handling on WP.com

    Sorry for asking what I hope is a simple question. We are a small non-profit (a classical guitar society). I have been tasked with redoing the website and have 3 specific needs related to getting money from people:
    – Selling tickets to upcoming concerts
    – Collecting dues from our members
    – Accepting donations from the public

    Can this be handled with a WordPress.com hosted site?

    Actually, the site is not RichardKordel…. This would be a new site that currently does not exist.

    Hi Richard,

    We have a number of eCommerce options on WordPress.com but based on what you have mentioned, I think WooCommerce could be the best option:

    Custom plugins like WooCommerce are availble on the Business plan and it supports the option to sell digital products and collect donations.

    Thank you. I think I solved the problem by poking around a bit yesterday. We are currently a small classical guitar society. I wanted to use WordPress for the new site and wanted to add the following abilities:
    – Sell tickets to upcoming events ( anticipated need – 6 events per year, 100-200 ticket max per event).
    – Collect dues from members (once per year – allow members to pay and get receipts electronically)
    – Accept charitable donations (would love to setup recurring donations, but a one time button would be a great place to start)

    My original question was to see if the term “monetization” bundled one of the ecommerce plugins into the $8 per month tier.

    Hi Richard,

    I believe you’re referring to the Simple Payments feature of the Premium plan.

    This feature lets you create and embed payment buttons to your site. All the payments will be processed through PayPal and you can read more about how that works here:

    However, I don’t think that the Simple Payments feature is the best fit for your site’s needs as it won’t let you create and manage members (you’ll have to do that manually).

    The Business plan with the WooCommerce plugin is the best solution for you.
