simple question about stats privacy

who can see my stats for my blog apart from myself?
i am considering joining other multi platform sites and some ask about page views etc..
i vaguelly recall a friend using some prog and/or website to check on page view/hits stats on a site he was interested in joining.. is this possible and can it be done on wordpress?

The site linked to your name isn’t a WordPress.com blog, so we won’t be able to answer questions about that. We can’t help you without a link to your WP.com blog, starting with http.

my question though is for wordpress in general, are the various blogs stats available to interested parties or just the bloggers themselves..?

There are three different kinds of WordPress, so we ALWAYS need to see the blog to make sure our answers are appropriate.
The WordPress.com stats are not available to the public unless you post them in your blog, but if you use Sitemeter or Statcounter or a similar service and put the link to your account in the sidebar, that can make the stats they gather public.

In addition to external stats counters, there is also the Stats sidebar widget, which will display a public hit counter on your blog.
