simplify comments box

  Hi. The comments box, with its 4 login buttons, followed by 3 fields and 2 checkboxes … well, it’s a bit complex and I think it may discourage comments on my blog. Is there some way I can simplify all this? I don’t want to collect anyone’s email addresses or track anyone, I just want to know what my visitors are thinking. I disabled the requirement for email, but I can’t seem to find a way to make the comment box customizable. Thanks for all help.

  I’m sorry but we cannot customize the comment boxes. We cannot edit templates or themes on our free hosted blogs.

  Disabling the requirement for commenters to provide an email address will of course open you blog to becoming a spam target. I strongly recommend that you set up comment moderation because over 80% of all comments received on the WordPress.com domain every day are spam.

  Thanks for your answer.

  akismet catches the spam pretty well for me. (I have a very very low-traffic blog, and that’s okay with me.) I guess most spammers go after the big fish.
