Singl Theme: where to start? Confused. Lost.

  Hi All,
  I can’t figure out how to make my Singl theme website look like the demo, with its video and tour dates below.

  There just aren’t any basic instructions on how to get started with it. I’m baffled. There doesn’t seem to be a Singl dedicated forum either. And I’ve searched through the topics tagged ‘singl’ on here.

  So:

  • How do I create and display tour dates on the front page? (or are they a simple hand-typed list in a Blog Post?—doubtful)
  • How do i make the video display on the home page?

  Hi there,

  Thank you for reaching out to us.

  I think they created a Static Page and made it the Home Page. There is step-by-step description on the Theme info page, little bit down below: https://wordpress.com/theme/singl/

  Set up your site like Singl‘s demo in five step:

  1. Front Page and Blog

  – Create or edit a page, and assign it to the Front Page template from the Page Options panel.
  – Go to Customize → Static Front Page and set “Front page displays” to “A static page.”
  – Select the page you just assigned as the “Front page,” and then choose another page as the “Posts page,” which will display your blog posts.

  For the front page content, we used a SoundCloud shortcode. We also added a child page (“The Deep Web Tour”).

  A websearch turned this up:

  But it’s for self-hosted sites. I’ll trawl through it and see if anything helpful turns up.

  I suspect the Tour Dates list is merely a manually created table within a child page or post. A bit old-style.
