  When using the ‘image’ post format for a single picture, is it more correct to put the picture in the body of the post or set it as the ‘featured image’?

  You don’t have a WordPress.COM blog but a WordPress.ORG blog, so you need to be in their forums for answers appropriate to that version of the software.
