Single Space

I’m trying to single space as opposed to double space and can’t get it to change.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Try shift-return (enter) instead of just return (enter) at the end of a line. That’ll give you a line break instead of a paragraph break.

Let me know how it goes.

Shift-return helps when I look at my site on ipad but does not work on pc. On pc the blanc line remains. :-(
Does anyone know how to remove the blanc line ?

Thanks Kathrynwp. That worked. You’d think you’d be able to set the line spacing under “paragraph” or something…like “Word.” Anyway, that worked. It’s cumbersome, but it does work.

In case you are interested, in the wp “classic editor”, which I use exclusively, if you are in text mode, the return key does give you a single-space line.

In visual mode (still the classic editor), this requires shift-return, the default is double-space.

I don’t use the “new” beep-beep-boop editor (does it still do that beep-beep thing?), so I don’t know if it has the options of “text mode” and “visual mode”.

You might not like text mode, though — the font is very images and italics etc only show as code, so it looks a lot different than the actual blog page.

oops, meant to say “the font is very plain, and images…”

  • Thanks Kathrynwp. That worked.

    Great!

There is a way to set the paragraph spacing to anything you like with Custom CSS, but that would require the Premium or Business plans. Adding a line break instead of a paragraph requires no upgrades and makes more sense “semantically” (structurally) in the code.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    You too!

  • vastgoedadviesgent – could you please start your own thread and provide a link to the post or page in question so we can have a look directly.

ingridcc – this is actually a very good tip.

So jmshell – In the new Calypso editor, if you switch to HTML view, hitting return/enter does give you a line break. You could always compose your poems there if you prefer and then switch to the Visual editor to add any formatting.

So now you have a few alternatives. :)
