sire redirect
-
Hi guys. I have a site livewellcq2.wordpress.com and then I have 2 domains purchased here: livewellcq.com and livewellcq.org. The livewellcq.com is mapped to the livewellcq2.wordpress.com.
I have built a new site on livewellcq.org. Now I want to set up a redirect from livewellcq.com to livewellcq.org. But when I go to purchase redirect for livewellcq.com it comes back with the message that I don’t need to buy a redirect as I already have a site mapping set up for that.
I need all traffic that go to livewellcq.com redirect to livewellcq.org. Should mention that livewellcq.org site is a self-hosted site build on WP CMS from WordPress.org.
Does that mean that I actually need to buy a redirect for livewellcq2.wordpress.com site and not livewellcq.com? Will that work? Please explain, I am a bit lost with all the set up.
Thank you.

Hi there. Just to clarify: if someone searches for or clicks on a link to your blog, you want them to end up on the new self-hosted site?
Then yes, you need to buy the Site Redirect upgrade for the WordPress.com URL, redirecting it to the .org address you want to use. (You can’t buy an upgrade for a custom domain, as that is an upgrade in itself. You always buy the upgrade for the underlying WordPress.com site.)
If you have any more questions about this, please let us know.
