Site address

  Hello, I have changed my site address, however, the old blog still exists (although it is empty) when I search for it using Google and my new blog address shows up no results unless I type in the entire url. When I log into wordpress it is showing up that I have two sites; the old address and the new address. I thought changing the name would just change the site address, not create a new site. I want my new site to be searchable on the web. Will deleting the old site solve this problem?
