Site Address different from dashboard address

  Hi,
  Before i Bought my domain, i followed the free trial where you get the free domain. However, my free trial domain name was the same as the purchased one. Therefore, it directs me to a different dashboard address where you don’t have the plugins capabilities. I tried to change the wp-config.php file from the hosting provider, however it seems that is not working. In fact, when i login in the dashboard it pops this message ‘Although your site address is example.com, keep in mind that your dashboard address is examplecomblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin. Thank you.

  It’s been a while since you posted your question; hopefully, this reply will still be helpful.

  I had the exact same issue as you and it took an embarrassingly long time to understand what was going on. Basically, you have to be using WordPress.org (not WordPress.com) to access your_doman.com/wp-admin. The steps I took to go from using WordPress.com to WordPress.org:
  1. Purchasing an external hosting service.
  2. Installing WordPress (here or via an installer software)
  3. Pointing the name servers to point to the new hosting service (see this article )
