Site Admin Left – Help!

  • Unknown's avatar

    We have a site: coloradoacaintergroup.wordpress.com

We can no longer get ahold of the site admin to make changes and/or delete the site. We don’t actually need this site and it conflicts now with our hosted site. How do we get access to the site and/or delete it?

If nothing else, will it ever just expire?

    Hi there,

I’m afraid only the account administrator can delete the site.

you can fill out the WordPress account recovery form, the account recovery team will contact you as soon as possible.
    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

Please contact Account Recovery Team directly at passwordhelp@wordpress.com if you are unable to fill out the form.

Here’s how you can delete a site once you have access:

    Hope this helps! :)

Thanks. It’s an old site for our non-profit and the people who started it are long gone and unreachable. Unfortunately, it has very dated and incorrect info. We were hoping that at some point of inactivity, you will expire it?

  • Hi there,

WordPress.com sites are never disabled due to inactivity, no.

If you have no way of reaching the owner of that site, and no way to verify ownership of the account that owns the site, I’m afraid there’s nothing we can do in this case. We see the individual who created a site as its owner, not any organisation they may have created the site for, and have strict rules in place to prevent unauthorised access and changes to our users’ sites.
